Vivian Kahn – Researching Hungarian Families in Hungary and Galicia

January 22, 2023 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm EST

– Zoom Meeting

JewishGen databases have almost 4 million records, making them a primary resource on Jewish families who lived in Hungary and Galicia (Many Polish Jews moved to Hungary and Vienna after the three partitions of Poland).  Vivian Kahn will demonstrate what is available on JewishGen and other less familiar online resources.  She will also provide tips and cover basic genealogical terms in Hungarian and German to help you search the resources even if you are not familiar with these languages.

Vivian KahnVivian Kahn is JewishGen’s Hungarian Research Director and has worked with a wide range of archival, print, and online resources documenting families from Hungary, Moravia, Slovakia, Romania, and Galicia.  She has written multiple articles on Hungarian Jewish family research and was recognized as JewishGen’s Volunteer of the Year in 2021.
