Serafima Velkovich – Tips for Using Genealogical Sources at Yad Vashem

January 23, 2022 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm EST

– Zoom Meeting

Almost five of the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis and their accomplices are commemorated in Yad Vashem’s online Central Database of Shoah Victims’ Names.  Yad Vashem, a living memorial to the Holocaust, houses a huge collection of materials. Ms. Velkovich will highlight new features and materials of the Database, as well as offer “tips” on utilizing it to the fullest. She will also guide us to other Yad Vashem online sources that are relevant for genealogists.

Serafima Velkovich, Head of the Family Roots Research Section in the Reference and Information Department in the Yad Vashem Archives division, is a PhD Candidate at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is a frequent lecturer at international and local conferences, participates in films on Holocaust topics, and assists visiting genealogists.
