Aaron Ginsburg – The Joint: What Is It and How Can I Use Its Archives?

November 19, 2020 @ 7:30 pm EST

– Zoom Meeting

Special Members-only Program

Presented by: Aaron Ginsburg, JGSGB member

The Joint Distribution Committee has provided relief and support to Jews in many countries since 1914. During WWI and the subsequent turmoil in Eastern Europe, the Joint assisted millions of Jews.

This work continued during the Holocaust and continues today. Recently their archives became digitized and searchable, http://search.archives.jdc.org/.

Aaron will review the history of the Joint, describe the archive’s contents, and will demonstrate how to use the search engine to learn more about your family.

Aaron GinsburgAaron Ginsburg noticed a program about the Joint Distribution Committee archives at the IAJGS 2020 convention. Using the archive’s search engine, he realized there was a learning curve about both the JDC and its archive, and began to dig into it. He will share his acquired knowledge with JGSGB members.

Aaron assists people with genealogy research both professionally and as a volunteer, and has traveled frequently to Belarus and Ukraine.

The ZOOM link will be sent to members on the day of the program
